Commission Information

Commissions are currently closed! This is a draft page while I work things out.
Note: I'm generally only interested in expanding my collection of pay-what-you-want backgrounds on itchio, rather than creating single-user custom backgrounds from scratch. This limits the range of backgrounds I'm willing to do, but also means your commission will create a useful resource for many other game developers.
Terms of Service
- Contact me at spiralatlas.sixties867 at passinbox.com to organise a price and figure out the details. Once you send me 50% as a deposit I'll send you a draft and we can discuss any changes. Final backgrounds will be sent once full payment is made.
- Maximum of two rounds of minor changes.
- I have unpredictable health problems. I'll update you if my health is interfering with my ability to work on your commission, and if it takes more than 4 weeks can refund your deposit if you don't want to wait.
- The backgrounds will be available to other people via my itchio account unless they use assets/designs belonging to you, in which case I will charge extra. If I intend on making any of the backgrounds paid-only, the price can be included in your payment to me, so that you automatically get access to any future updates.
- Images are 1920x1080 pixels by default.
- All prices are in USD. The prices listed here are just a rough guide. Payment is to my paypal account.
- I have the right to refuse any commission.
- I will probably be uncomfortable rendering anything very scary/gross/nsfw, but won't object to you asking to check.
- Use or adapt any of these images for any sort of project, including commercial works. Don't redistribute or resell the unedited images or use them for any sort of AI training.
New Render Styles and Resolutions for Existing Backgrounds
Price: "Free" if I have them to hand, more if it's possible to do but will require some work. Either way I'll add it to the itchio background set as a paid extra, so you might have to pay for that. Not every render style is possible for every background, but it may also be possible to do combinations I haven't shown here eg adding lines after using fotosketcher. Larger resolutions have historically tended to make my computer crash, but I can always give it a shot.

Small Variations of Existing Renders
Price: $15+ Depending on complexity and number of renders.
eg: change colour of an object such as a car, walls etc, remove an object, new render from a different angle, replace an image texture eg on a poster.
Significant Variations of Existing Renders
Price: $25+ Depending on complexity and number of renders. If I have to fundamentally change the structure or find/create new objects I don't already have models for, that significantly increases the complexity.
eg: Add objects, night/day/evening variants

New Renders of Complete Environments
Price: $30+ Depending on complexity and number of camera angles. $100+ if you want a realistic environment converted to my usual painted toon style, especially if you want me to make any edits. Trees are generally a hassle to paint over.
Here's some environments I currently have access to, I'm happy to use other free ones or have you send me money to buy any I don't already own. But it's unfortunately a bit of a crapshoot how nice a realistic environment will look when I toon-shade it, depending on how the textures and lighting are done. I'm happy to download anything I have access to and give you a free quick assessment on whether I think it'll render nicely.
Check out Stylarts for environments with in-built toon-shading. Note that you'd have to send me the money to buy any beyond those I already own, and since they rely on custom Unreal Engine tools I can't easily edit them asides from optionally adding lines and new camera angles.
New Environments From Scratch
Price: $100+, but generally not an option. If a background would be really useful for lots of people and not really hard to make I might consider it. Also it's possible I can come up with a way to adapt an existing environment to fit. So feel free to ask, but the answer will probably be no!
